Wouldn't do it to a dog

It was a significant moment for me when, at the age of eleven, I came to believe that the law of the land of my birth was wrong. I was immensly pleased when the death penalty was done away with in 1965. Not all of the so-called civilised world has followed suit.

Now I am amazed to read that the techiques for criminal execution in the USA would be illegal if applied to an animal.

. . . suggest that the current practice of lethal injection for execution fails to meet veterinary standards

Nakedness on Lac Léman (by popular request)

OracleDoc thought I should write about "all the nakedness going on down at the lake". So here goes:

I fell off a windsurfer in surprise when a topless girl sailed up next to me.

I saw an attractive lady sun-bathing topless on the trampolene of a catamaran. The guy working on it stood up and I recognised him as an old sailing buddy, who introduced the lady to me as his wife. I didn't know where to look.

Sail out into the middle of the lake and there you'll find plenty of people (male and female) sun-bathing totally naked on their boats.

OK, time to step out of the time-machine. That was news more that 25 years ago. All I can say is that it can only be a good thing that it has become increasingly irrelevant what people are or are not wearing.

(I suppose OracleDoc was hoping for some pictures?)
